Ace Frehley 7/29/20

Kiss co-founder Ace Frehley has unveiled the artwork and tracklisting to his upcoming covers album, Origins, Vol. 2, which drops on September 18th. Ultimate Classic Rock posted that among the musicians lending the “Spaceman” some help on the followup to 2016’s Origins, Vol 1., are Lita Ford on a cover of the Rolling Stones‘ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” and Cheap Trick frontman Robin Zander on Humble Pie‘s “30 Days In The Hole.”

Former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick joins in for a cover of the Jimi Hendrix Experience‘s “Manic Depression,” and noted guitarist John 5 lends his skills to Ace’s versions of the Beatles‘ “I’m Down” and Cream’s “Politician.” Ace also covers Kiss’ 1974 Dressed To Kill classic “She” on the set.

One of Ace Frehley’s greatest rock moments was on July 17th 1970 — the day he got to become his idol Jimi Hendrix’s roadie: [“I roadied for Jimi Hendrix, believe it or not, at his last concert at New York’s Randall’s Island a couple of months prior to his death. I snuck in backstage and they put me to work. I’m setting up Mitch Mitchell’s drums, I mean it was bizarre. Back in those days they didn’t have laminates and stick-on passes, it was just free love and free everything. I had hair down to here and yellow hot-pants on and a snakeskin star so obviously they thought I was in one of the bands. So I just walked backstage and looked at the guy and he just let me walk backstage. And when they realized I wasn’t in a band they just put me to work.”] SOUNDCUE (:39 OC: . . . me to work)
